Plastic Bag Printmaking
Printmaking is close to my favourite activity with kids! Once they get the hang of it, they really embrace the independence and create the coolest little one-off artworks.
This one was a new technique we thought we would try!
Ages: 5+
You will need:
⋒ Plactic snaplock / ziplock bags
⋒ Masking tape
⋒ Acrylic paints
⋒ Paint brush or roller
⋒ Paper for printing
⋒ Cotton buds
- Secure your snaplock bag to a flat surface (we used masking tape).
- Apply paint colour(s) of your choice. Not too much, less is more here.
- Spread the paint over the bag using your brush or roller.
- Take the cotton bud & draw your design in the paint.
- Select your paper, press down gently & lift!
- Lay your print down somewhere flat to dry, then repeat!
If you don’t have cotton buds available, use the end of a paintbrush, or a finger!
We used a tray under our printing to protect the table. Be sure to do the same or lay down some newspaper to avoid paint splatter.
Be prepared for a gallery! Once kids start it’s hard to stop them with this one!
Have fun!
